Text Box: Oscoda Stomp’s Mission
For the Business Community:

Why the Oscoda Stomp?
Oscoda is our stomping ground. We love it. Sometimes we want to stomp our feet at the negative people and say, “Look around at what we have here.”
We want to fill this site up with all things Oscoda, beginning with downtown businesses [If you have an Oscoda Business website, LET US LINK TO IT (free).] and then we will promote and focus on WHY people love it here.

What is this KISS Webpage thing?
Our family members are net-addicted geeks. Not quite a techies but close. We are the first to admit that we search the net before we search for a phone book. We do everything online and we know we are not alone.
We believe the very things that make Oscoda the remote, quaint, laid-back, beautiful place it is can be working against the businesses community.

Why does my little businesses need a web presence?
The net is an equalizer - but to compete businesses need to be visible, searchable, and reachable there. If you don’t put yourself out there neatly, nicely, favorably, enthusiastically, then you are missing a bet.

“Google” your business and see what turns up. (You should do that occasionally anyway.) Then “google” one of Oscoda Stomp’s businesses. We think we can get you more hits… make you more visible.

But my business is listed on yellow pages online or other business listings online.
Great, and we will link to that listing here for you if you wish.
BUT...the difference in an online listing and a webpage is like the difference in a simple phone book listing compared to a full page ad in the newspaper or an ad on TV. It’s a BIG difference. We need to sell ourselves...promote, promote, promote.

I can’t afford to keep up - and/or - I’m a little afraid of the net “stuff”
It’s a catch-22. How can you afford NOT to?
We know you are busy or perhaps a little confused by the computer and internet. But we know it’s important.

We’ve spent some restless nights at our house thinking about ways to get the ball rolling with training wheels and make it affordable. This is what we came up with:
Our main domain (Oscoda Stomp) will focus on Oscoda and the business community. We’ll eat as much of the hosting cost as possible. (Hey.. We would do it for free, but WE are struggling too… and this is dangerously close to free.)
That domain will list Oscoda businesses so net people can find us and we will host your webpage if you need one. (A website isn’t on the net unless it has a host home, where it resides.)
We will keep plugging that our domain (Oscoda Stomp) with keywords for the search engines, links to popular sites (like Merchant’s circle) and get link-backs… promote, promote, promote. (And take you along for the ride.)

What we can give you if you want a webpage and not just a listing:
One static page (using the KISS* principle):
A static page that looks pretty but doesn’t change after you create it - the front (façade) page with your contact information.
(Optional) page for updates - (We don’t want to spend a lot of time on this either): We charge an hourly rate because it can get tedious updating all the time. Use it for sales or menu changes, etc. We collect 10 minutes here or 5 minutes there scanning a picture or changing information… if we have to do a lot of typing it gets longer. When it reaches an hour total, we bill you.
Hosting for your web pages.

Our future is linked to Oscoda… so why not link ourselves in ways that count?

So there you have it...
The reason for the Oscoda stomp and the KISS business web pages.

If you need fancy stuff, all kinds of extras, carts, databases…. That’s not us.
Hopefully all of our businesses will be at that point one day where we need fancy things and have the money to pay properly for it. (We can refer you to some excellent sources because hopefully we will be using them too.)

Until then,
See you on the net, Oscoda Businesses!

Love,
Work in Progress
